Saglie Luis was born in Oslo, Norway in 1974. Later he spent his early years in his country, Chile. In 1981 his family moved to Los Angeles, California. It has been a self-taught composer from 9 years old, making studies of piano and composition at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). In 1996 he moved to Vienna, Austria, where he lived for 12 years, continuing their higher studies and Opera Conducting and Composition at the Hochschule für Musik in Wien (Vienna University of Music) and at the Vienna Conservatory. In

field of composition, won the Master of Arts (MA), Bachelor of Arts (BA) and in the field of musical direction, a Diploma from the Conservatory of Vienna.

Saglie has been recognized internationally as a composer for the public, professional musicians and the press. Is constantly working on commissions of instrumentalists, symphonic and chamber music, universities, art and film projects. Luis Saglie received the First Prize at the International Composition Competition of the International Horn Society in 2009 and his entire repertoire for the horn has been highly praised by most professional horn player and composer.

Saglie was the winner of the Theodor-Körner Prize for Composition in Austria, in 2005 and also won a National Composition of the Federal Chancellery of the Government of Austria, in 2004. In 2006 he led his first opera, "The day of liberation" (libretto: Santini) in Vienna, Austria, obtaining critical

outstanding in 2010, Luis Saglie up residence in Italy for 1 year , where he composed

several works of concert, theater and film that have been submitted in Europe, North America and South America. Recently finished his "Concerto for Horn and Orchestra" for horn and Astaiza Andrey Ecuadorian National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador. Currently underway is the creation of two compositions: "The

Teacher Prayer" based on the poem by the great Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral, for soprano and orchestra, for soprano Vocal Artist Columbia, Juliana Di Giacomo, and "Sonata for Piano No. 2", for pianist Yevgeniy Milyavskiy. Also continues in collaboration for writer and film director Alonso Llosa in the music for his latest movie.

From August this year, Luis Saglie establish his residence in New York City.
